cold -soaked battery ? 900

My car would not start this morning where the temperature was about 35 degrees. But for the six days before that while I was on vacation the car sat undriven in 20-30 degree weather. The battery is about 18 months old. Anyway, I charged it for 20 minutes and now it seems fine. I'm trying to figure out what happened. Is my battery that lame? IS it bad for a battery to just sit like that? I couldn't find any significant current drain when I checked with an amp meter so I have no other explanation than to blame the battery.
