2-1-4 EZK code 900

My 93 turbo has had a lumpy idle so I checked the codes. Only one is the 2-1-4, which is crank position sensor,
"RPM sensor signal absent intermittently"
The car runs fairly strongly but mileage is down. Other tune parts are good, compression is good, plugs quite recent.
Is there anything else that could be relevant to know about this? I will put in another sensor shortly, just wanting to have any other info.
