Weird electrical/tranny symptoms

A few days ago, I posted a question about an event where my tranny ('92 244, AW-70) would not go into park or neutral without making a horrible metallic grinding noise. Upon further thought, there may be more relevant information:

--The car was warm and had just been shut off at the gas station; I had just started the motor again.
--The lights wouldn't work.
--The "overdrive" feature (which usually works) wouldn't work.
--The car still drove fine.
--After turning the car off and letting it sit for a while, everything went back to normal.

A few days later, the same event repeated. Again, I was at a gas station. I turned off the car to fill up. A couple minutes later, I turned on the car. The transmission whined in park. The lights didn't work. The overdrive light went on (without me pushing the OD switch). I put the car in drive and it drove fine (albeit without lights). So I drove across the parking lot, shut the car off with the selector in "D", and went for a walk. A few minutes later, started the car back up, no problems at all.

What should I do?
