Odometer/Trip odometer issue with a twist 200 1990

Hi All,

My 240DL Wagon has recently been experiencing an intermittent odometer/trip odometer failure. I have pulled the cluster, checked the drive gear with the intent of replacing it, but after inspection with a magnifier, no teeth are missing/worn. The speedometer works fine. I have checked the speed reading against the tried and true interstate mile markers with a stop watch method, and the speedometer is accurate. I have cleaned and tightened all connections, with to no avail. The odometer/trip odometer works sometimes and doesn't at other times. Sometimes I can tap on the instrument panel and get things to work. With the speedometer working accurately, the only thing that I can think of is that their is a loose connection or intermittent electrical part failure in the odometer circuitry. Any suggestions?

Bob
