Re: '93 240 wagon, Those bright lads here help the old guy. Follow my statement. If you put 12 volts to the # 4 fuse the panel that is adjacent to drivers door. This by passes the fuel pump relay and turns on both fuel pumps. This is a fact. Use for testing purposes
your key will have no control over this Michael the Rodent jumper wire only removing this wire will return control to your ignition key.
I was getting no action from either fuel pump so I wanted to confirm yes they are working. I installed a new fuel pump relay # 3523608 above passenger footwell, still no power to fuse# 4 even with key on, obviously no start, so I open fuel supply line to engine distribution center at valve cover, to determine fuel to engine, I'd replaced the fuel filter the large canister next to in line fuel pump. no fuel being pumped.
The previous owner of this vehicle replaced nearly every component on this engine,
ECU, timing belt, seals, crank shaft sensor oxygen sensor the one in catalyst, the list just keeps going on. No Volvo Mechanics on The Big Island and the local parts changer that ostensibly understands Volvos (NOT) CHARGES $105 p.h. not in my budget, This is my 24th month of no paycheck. I MUST turn my own wrenches.
My question is: If my new fuel pump relay is in fact good & working. If I hold in my hand while plugged in and ask my exasperated wife, one more time turn on key until panel light luminates but don't start, should't I be able to feel the click of relay closing thus completing elec. circuit, if yes, then shouldn't this action energize fuse panel#4?
