alternator compatibility 200 1988

I need to replace the alternator on my '88 240, UK spec 2.0 k-jet. It has a 55 amp Bosch unit on it. I have found for cheap a rebuilt 65 amp Bosch alternator used on 2.3 litre 240s, 740s and 940s. Comparing photos, the two alternators look the same, but it's hard to tell if the mounts and two-belt pulley are identical. Will the 65 amp fit my car? -- do any forum users on here know?
