Synthetic or reg oil for 93 240 wagon? 200 1993

Mileage well over 100K (odometer broken) - Only drive 6K miles/year, so fluid and filter lifespan more important than mileage for maintenance. Will synthetic oil provide longer life, e.g., 4 or 5 months vs. the usual 3,000 miles/3 month recommendation for oil changes. Any other pros/cons etc. to be aware of? Thanks!
