Dear Abel,
Hope you're well. Glad to learn that you found excellent replacement seats, and especially that you followed properly precautions, in respect of the SRS system.
The SRS light is on, because the system cannot find the seat-belt pyrotechnic pre-tensioner units, which were factory-original equipment in '93 and later 940s sold in North American markets. I believe that the entire SRS system will not work, until the all system components are present and in good working order.
Unless the recipient car's factory-original seat-belts were wholly unserviceable, they should not have been disconnected or removed. Seat belts attach to the seat, via a hex-bolt just above the seat track, on the side closest to the door. The seat cannot be removed from the car, without removing that bolt.
If the factory-original seat-belts were totally unserviceable, they need to be replaced with units from a '93-'95 940, which have the pyrotechnic pre-tensioners. There is no other way to restore system integrity.
There are no SRS sensors in seats installed in 92-94 940s. In 960 cars, in the 1996 and 1997 model years, there are in-seat side-impact airbags. However, these have no electrical connectors of any sort. They are triggered by impact on a sensor, built-into the seat-side mounting for the seat control switch. When triggered, a non-electric detonator causes the bag to deploy.
In short, get pyrotechnic pre-tensioner-equipped seat-belt units from a '93-'95 940 and install them. All with then be in order.
Hope this helps.
Yours faithfully,
Spook
