Back Seat Lever Handle Broken, 240 Wagon 200 1990

I have looked for and not found any threads which address a fix for a broken lever handle on the back seat latch release, located on the upper back side of the seat. Anyone have any clever fixes for this problem? I can get the side latches to disengage, though not easily. Thanks, RDP
