Cold weather unstable idle/stalling 900 1992

Hello All:

My '92 945t is exhibiting some problems with unstable idle (up and down about twice per second) and sometimes stalling. This can happen in neutral, but it is much more pronounced in drive, particularly with the brakes applied.

This had happened "once in a blue moon" earlier this winter, but now that it is quite cold (-20C) it is happening with regularity. In this weather it is more likely to actually stall, which happened three times this morning on the way to work. I had to resort to two footed driving to keep things running!

I plan to clean the throttle body and inspect the vacuum hose and the check valve for the brake booster. I will clean and inspect the idle air valve. Any other candidates? The 2Hz oscillation in the idle makes me think there is some kind of control signal failure...

Any other ideas?
