I have seen the impeller (is that the rite word)on the inside of the WP shaft break its bond and start spinning freely and also rattle,if this was the case you will notice a change in engine temp. It was most likely a foreign object caught behind WP pulley and then perhaps slipped out never to return.Are you running with or W/O a belly pan?
