can bad temp sensor WRECK an alternator? 200

You know what lol, I am almost sure the belt WAS slipping now that you mention it!

They were pretty loose, plus about 7 teeth missing in one of them, many cracks in the other. Also alternator checks out ok again, so putting new belts on. I have very high hopes that fixes the issue, I guess if I did not properly tighten the alternator mounting it would take about 3 days to loosen/settle into belt slip mode.

The temp gauge thing is weird though, maybe totally unrelated. I'm going to take the panel out and recheck that temp-comp fix i did, if I recall I went for the stick 16 gauge jumper jam in there instead of solder cause another poster said they were going on years with that. I did the 'fix' to another vehicle with solder and I think it turned out not too hard so I'll solder this one too.
