rpm sensor on '87 740 turbo 700

i have an 87, 740 turbo which does not start (it cranks, but i don't have any spark and my tachometer does not move while cranking - checked fuel pump and fuel pump relay)
i posted a thread before (http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/volvo/1466774/740/760/780/spark.html) and determined that it must be the rpm sensor - correct me if i am wrong.
I don't find the location of this sensor and to where it is connected. I looked behind the engine block down to the bell housing, but i don't see any sensor there (http://www.vcoa.org/700-900-faq/EngineSensors.html#Crank_Postition_Sensor) and also no cable this size.
i have a bosch injection system (don't know if that matters)
