bosch electronic ignition in 142 problem 140-160

I'm going to try bypassing the ballast resistor since my coil is from a post 75 era 240 and my bosch starter has two terminals that I can utilize. Right now it starts but idles really rough (with way too much advance), and has no power under load. I suppose the the white wire on my loom should go to the tach instead of my -ve terminal on the coil. I don't have a tach at the moment so I guess it won't be used. The brown wire will go to one of the +ve terminals on the distributor (the other will still be hooked up directly to the ignition switch). The other end of my brown wire will go directly to the fusebox and I will run a wire from the -ve terminal on the coil to the #50 on the starter (as it was before).Hopefully this works and I haven't over simplified the installation! If not i'm hoping somebody will give me some feedback
