Tips To Repair Muffler Baffling 700

Our 1989 740GL has been up in MN for quite a while and, although it is essentially rust-free, the muffler is starting to show a little age. I noticed some rattling the other day and found that a piece of the "baffling" (?) that sits just behind the right front wheel has broken off from around the piping and rattles. Besides getting a spot weld, are there any other cheap fixes (hi-temp epoxy, some type of chemical weld product, etc.)? Thanks.
