Using a Bosch 139 Module to run stock point ignition 140-160

The HEI 4 generate a spark on the positive going edge just like a normal contact breaker ignition. The Bosch 139 falls in a small group of ignition modules called ground level trigger ignitions, it generates a spark when the input goes to ground (similar to contact breaker closes). This means your contact breaker signal needs to be inverted, which is what the transistor does. Currently your ignition is triggering when the CB closes, not when it opens. You are triggering on the wrong edge and probably had to adjust the distributor quite a bit.

The Bosch 139 is a great module, it manages dwell time and also will not burn out the coil if you leave the ignition on without the engine running. But it does use an inverted trigger signal unlike most other modules.

I can very quickly solder this up for you, but probably not worth it as I'm in New Zealand. I'm an electronic engineer, started soldering at age 13. Let me know if you can not find someone locally though, then we can look at what would be involved re postage. Might be interesting sending it in an envelope through Customs...

Note the C547B is more commonly/generically known as a BC547B.
