Oil Leak 200 1986

1986 244 DL non-turbo with 206k miles. Owned 2 years, drove about 1k miles over past 3 months. Previously garaged. Changed oil 180 miles ago and added Mobil 1 Synthetic 0w-30 (yes, 0W-30). Am now down 2 quarts of oil and see fresh and dried oil on top of water pump and grimy oil near rear main oil seal. Parenthetically, have ATF leak, as needed 1/2 quart over past 180 miles and 3/4 quart over past 500 miles before that.

Could the synthetic have caused the seal leak, or merely cleaned up gunk covering up faulty seals?

If I replace seals and use synthetic, will I have leaks again?

Is it okay to use 0w-30 vs. 5w-30? I'm in SF Bay Area of CA and use 0W-30 for better lubrication of upper portion of engine and better mileage. Thanks!
