A few days ago I collided my 92 745 with a Pontiac G6. My bad. The damage to my 745 is a wasted drivers door, wasted LF fender, minor damage to LR door, and (unfortunately) extensive damage to the A-piller door hinge area and rocker panel. It crushed in the side of the car enough to kinda bunch up the dash board panels, breaking various plastic pieces and causing the dash structure to bow-up slightly at the instrument cluster area. The steering wheel now sits a bit higher.
I've located a 94 945 turbo for sale with 160,000 miles that runs very well and has a nice body. It has the same color leather interior as my 745 and could benefit from the seats, cargo carpets, and front door pockets being transplanted over from the 740. I'm fairly certain it can be done, but wanted verification from someone that might know first hand.
Will the 740 manual seats directly replace the 940 power seats? (The 940 seat motors don't work right anyway.)
Will the back seat cross over between cars? One difference I see is that the 740 rear seat bottoms have outboard levers that release the locks, where the 940 has little pull cords that release the locks. Also, there is a slight difference in the way the rear seat BACKS release to flop forward. I'm not beyond moving just the rear seat SKINS if that would work better....
Will the 745 cargo compartment carpets swap over to the 945? (The 945 has a third seat.)
And lastly, will the front bumper cover cross over? I believe it looks the same. (The 940 has the fogs between the headlights and grill. The 740 has NO fogs, if that makes a difference with the bumper, but I'm hoping not.
If I could make these swaps I would end up with a fairly nice 940 turbo wagon.
