M46 backup lights don't use a switch on the shifter

It seems you do a lot of inferring, Cmho2. I have no desire to imply anything personally about you, Cmho2, or belittle what you have written. In your "AC delete post," I can't see anything in my replies that would recommend me for sensitivity training, Cmho2. What, exactly, set you off? http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/volvo/1408496/ac_bypass_89_240.html

Obviously don't own a Bentley Art

That's OK. I have a pile of Haynes. A friend refers to them as the "underwear" manuals. I like them for their real photos, but find it unfortunate they can only disassemble one car and then build a book for all the years it was made. In one of them, I see the drawing you are looking at. I sympathize with your desire to replace a switch where they show it instead of where it is on all the M46 trannies I've ever seen. I realize now where on the shifter you meant, so it sinks into my thick head you were not speaking of the switch on the shifter knob.

Sometimes without visual cues, folks from slightly different social backgrounds have a hard time communicating with the written word. Face to face and a beer or two for lubrication can make a world of difference. As much as I try, I understand I will never be 100% successful.

With respect,
