Belt Noise Issue Resolved (info / lesson learned) 900 1992

Our 940 Turbo with 134,000 miles got new belts from the dealer less than 1 year ago (less than 10,000 miles ago). I hadn't noticed the noise until my son, the driver, left for college and I started driving it. The belt noise at idle was embarassing! I tried belt dressing. I tried tightening the belts. Neither changed it. I couldn't figure out for sure if it was belts, which still looked new or one of the other parts or pulley's.

Finally took it to my Indie and he couldn't find anything wrong and asked me if I wanted to try new belts. He took off the Volvo belts and put on Continental belts and it sounds great (quiet). I hated to take off fairly new belts but I am no longer embarassed to pull up to a stop sign or red light.
