Get the 940, or wait for a 940 wagon if you can. Avoid all FWD cars in general. Avoid the Mercedes - they are for zealots only.
The mere fact that you considered a Saab has me concerned however. In the shop I once worked in they were always referred to as "Saab stories", as the customers tended to weep a lot. Almost as much as the Audi owners, for whom we had a special towel so their tears wouldn't smudge the numbers on their extensive (and expensive) work orders....
