Hey Eric!
I suspect there may have been other factors involved, perhaps overtorquing the nut, etc.
Interesting you should mention lack of lube. I used to get Quentin-Hazell parts in
Panama and the first of their balljoints wiped out in short order. When I took it out
there was not a trace of grease in it. So if I use any of their parts I always check
for lube. Most were dry!
