frontdrive & all wheel drive Volvos 1996

I face a similar dilemma, though I am far from Hawaii.

We drive two RWD 960's. Mine is a 1997 965, wifemobile is a 1998 S/90 (few changes from the 1997 960's). The B6304 engine has one more cylinder than the same-block 5-cylinder used in the 850 models. Pre-1995 960 are very iffy.

After the S/90 goes to Valhalla, what to do? I am used to a Volvo/Volvo, not a Volvo/Ford and, like you, am very leery of FWD/AWD and of Volvos designed to be DIY unfriendly.

Thinking about a VW Passat TDI, but only thinking.

If there are any 960's on the island, let the Brickboard folks help. They can be a wonderful luxurious car, or a money pit. Ours are the former, we knew what to check for. Complete maintenance records are critical, plus the owner's manual.

Good Luck,

Bob
