Engine/Drive line Shudder

My 1990, 240 wagon shudders while taking up a drive especially in the morning when it is cold. Car shudders little bit and does not pick up the speed as if engine is choking, but then something engages and all is fine. It mostly happens when car is cold, after 1-2 miles it becomes fine, It happens in any gear. When I disengage the engine when this is happening it revs up fine so it has something to do with drive line or clutch.

I have heard the sign of failing clutch is that engine revs while car does not pick up the speed, but in this case when the shudder happens and clutch is engaged the engine feels stressed.

What can be the issue.

Regards,
