Flame Trap Relocation - Should I? And Metal or Plastic replacement? 200

1984 244DL B23/M46

Howdy Brick folk. Just a quick question. Is it worthwhile to relocate the flame trap? I have been neglecting my new-to-me brick for financial reasons, but I can spend a few bucks on a clean flame trap.

Is it worth moving the flame trap? I remember removing something and looking at it and realizing - Oh! That's my flame trap. I've always had a turbo car before, so no flame trap to fiddle with.

Also should I get metal or plastic? Why? Should I just clean the one that's in there?

Art - if you come across this, did I miss the flame trap cleaning portion of www.cleanflametrap.com or is there some irony eye mist?

Happy Bricking!
