Collectibility/Current Value 1986 240 DL? 200

"Collectibility" for this car would only apply to a small group of folks who just love the car, and it's low mileage. As was already mentioned, even a car with super low miles that has sat for a number of years will need some significant attention. If you can do the work yourself, that's great, but if you can't, there will be a substantial investment to get the car safe and ready for the road with just the basics. Tires? Are they new or as old as the car? If they're old, even if they have great tread, they need to be replaced for safety reasons; believe it or not, tires have a shelf life. You have already mentioned the spongy brakes; the entire system will need to be gone through to make sure that everything is working safely and properly. There are a lot of rubber parts in the brake system that will be prone to deterioration. A lot of the suspension bushings and struts have rubber parts that will wear quickly or fail once the vehicle is put into regular use. The manual transmission is bullet proof, but the fluid should be changed and the clutch could be weak from disuse. All of this should be considered when bargaining for a price. A premium could be attached to a car that is in cosmetically pristine condition, but keep in mind that if you plan to resell at a profit, the market will be very limited.
