injector oddities 900

My 93T motor shakes at idle quite a bit. I pulled no.1 injector wire and idle stayed the same. Pulled 2, noticeable difference; 3, same type of difference, 4, same difference.
I swapped in another injector, same model, thinking I had found the problem. No change, same result from all 4 as above. 2 bad injectors?
I pulled no.1 and no.4 wires; big change, barely running on 2 and 3 only. I put no.4 wire on no.1; better. (running on 3 cyls) I pulled no.1( no.4 wire) and put no.1 wire on 4. better (also running on 3 cyls).
??????
In other words, I could not get a consistently repeatable result. Sometimes no.4 wire swapped to no.1 seemed to work fine, sometimes no.1 wire swapped to no.4 seemed to work fine. All four sometimes seemed to work fairly well and sometimes seemed to shake as earlier. Then I had to go to work. On the drive it ran ok/decent/good, but at lights sometimes it would shake and sometimes not so much.
Coming home it feels quite strong, but mph/rpm seems off, lower by about 3mph. That is something I pay close attention to, so it's accurate.
This system has the resistor pack and I see nothing in the FAQ about it.
Any suggestions?
