Power Steering Fluid Type 700 1991

I just purchased a 1991 740 Turbo sedan and started some neglected maint. I used a turkey baster to remove the power steering fluid and the owners manual recommends type F transmission fluid but the FAQ states Dexron 11. Which is correct? If memory is correct Type F is thinner. The fluid is black and the steering isn't smooth so I don't know if the rack is bad but decided to try new fluid first. I know the FAQ state synthetic is great but I don't know if I will have to change the rack shortly. Thnaks Matt
