Steering clunk 200 1992

Hi

Have been having a steering issue with the 245 my wife drives. I had noticed while I would make turns the steering would make a clunk-clunk-clunk sound.

Had her turn the steering wheel as I was down by the front wheels and the rack seems to be slightly moving in place with each clunk.

Got under there this evening and checked the steering rack u-bolt mounts. Nuts didn't seem too loose. I tightened them a little. I also sprayed the lower u joint with Blaster to see if that is the noisy culprit that is binding and moving the rack.

I tried to feel the steering boots to check the inner tie rods-not too sure exactly how to spot a bad one as I haven't had experience with these.

I will be monitoring for the noise to see if any of the above things I did was a temporary fix and will be reporting back.

Any additional advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
Travis
