struts on a 240

hi 240 sages- still restoring little things to perfection on my 92 240 wagon. sure has different systems than slant six dodge. 2 questions: told to check strut condition 2 ways(actually old shock absorber systems). use the one bounce and stop trick on each corner and see if one or more tires are cupping (wearing in spots down the center of the tire tread from bumps not being absorbed by shot shock. right or wrong? also to access the tank pump in a 3d seat wagon, does the whole 3d seat have to be taken out or is there a trick? thanks tons old duke
