3rd brake light question 900

For some strange reason my 1996 960 is missing its 3rd brake light. The one that goes on the back lid. I picked up the same at a junkyard from a 1994 960. I have two poor pictures that show two wires that I am pretty sure went to the brake light that was originally there. One is yellow/black, the other is just black. The connectors differ. I am planning to change the connectors on these two wires to something that will fit on the two terminals that the original plug went into on the fixture. Does it matter which wire goes to which terminal?

Thanks very much,
Jim Lee
