Battery or Alernator?? 900

Well this morning I tried to go to work, and my 95 960 turned once, and then I got a click. After a bit of calling, I put in a new Delco professional 48-6Y 615 cca battery. This is what was in before, and was the top rated battery for a time by Consumer Reports.

However, although the car is going, I am not sure if the battery or the alternator is the cause. What is the best way to tell? Does a bad alternator post a code in the ODB 1 that I can read? Which socket?

I am handy with a voltmeter, but have never used on the test an alternator. not sure how to test it, and how to find the cause of the dead battery.
