1989 240 engine runs, no lights, no radio, brake light warning chimes 200

Hi folks,

Just had a scare. I applied the brakes and my open door chimed telling me the brake lights were out (I think). No problem, I turned on the emergency flashers and nothing happened. Then I turned on the head lights, and no lights! No radio either. Yet, the engine runs fine with no warning indicator lamps other the check engine light (which I am working on resolving).

On my way home a few minutes later, my radio turns back on. And now all my electrical systems seem to be working again.

What do you think the is?

Wynn
