high pressure coolant leak - metal erosion 200 1988

I just came in from checking my cooling system thermostat function. I saw some pitting around the edge of the gasket inset on the housing and light tan specks on the distributor cap and base of ignition wires.

Have you any experience with having a leak out of the coolant system, across metal, enough to know how fast it will eat away the metal?

Do you have an idea of the impact of coolant spraying on ignition wires?

I do want to stretch it out. I am curious about back checking other symptoms.

Thanks
