Missing Trans. Line Clamp & Odd Line Coupling Pictures 200 1990

Hi

I got under my 90 244 yesterday to do a few things and noticed the missing transmission clamp. I compared it to my 92 245 and noticed the 90 has a coupling in the one line around the area where the clamp would have been.

So my questions are:

Is this coupling in the transmission line supposed to be there? (As it is not on the 92 245)

Were there different style clamps for the various model years? -The 90 doesn't seem like it would accept that same type of clamp, as there was no play in the lines. I would really have to put some force on them to push them up to get a clamp on there which just doesn't seem like a very good idea.

Advice would be greatly appreciated.
