I was changing my belts today and ran into a little issue with the AC belt. After getting the belts on I noticed the AC-PS belt seemed to be misaligned with respect to the power steering pulley. The AC unit was canted forward toward the front of the car slightly. After a little research here I learned there should be two nuts/bolts to tighten/loosen on the top of the compressor (front and back). The front nut/bolt that secured the tensioner assembly to the front grooved arm was present, but the nut/bolt on the rear grooved adjustment arm was missing. The rear arm was just floating there.
I am wondering what size nut/bolt I need for this rear mounting arm? Also, when installed, is the nut on the front or rear side of the bracket? I couldn't find a good diagram in the Bentley.
One other question I had was regarding those grooved adjustment arms on the top of the compressor. Should the nut that secures these adjustment arms to the bracket ever need to be tightened/loosened? Both of them could move up and down fairly easily. I attempted to tighten the front one (where it attaches to the bracket) and it just seemed to spin inside the rubber bushing. I am guessing there is a nut on the other end of the bolt spinning in the depths of the bracket.
