ANSWER spindle grease seal 1991 240 200

Below is FCP's picture of the seal (pn 944185).

It's the first thing that goes on the empty spindle, and is probably still there unless you took it off. The thicker part faces inboard. The flat, thin lip faces out so it makes a seal against the flat face of the metal bearing retainer cup, which should be tapped in even/flush with the inner hub surface and smeared with grease.

What "how to" are you using? The Bentley has decent pictures. The bearings are the same for the '77 as for '93, except the size which changed in '81.
