Temp Gauge Issue 200 1992

While out running some errands today my temp gauge dropped, after a few min, came back up to normal. I stopped for a while (had to run in somewhere) and cam back out, started up again, the gauge came up, then dropped again and did not come back up.

I did a search on here and found a few things, but this one i want to look into.

"I don't know if the 700 series use a temperature compensating board in the instrument cluster like the later 240's, but this board can cause the temp guage to sit at cold then quickly rise to normal then drop again. If your car has this board, it can sometimes be fixed by removing the board and cleaning the pins it plugs into."

There is also mention of the temp sending unit, but i have NO idea where to look for this on my 240.

I dont even know where to start with this.

Still learning along the way.

SOme help would be great.
