740 with steering issues 700 1991

New info on steering issue. Noticed very faint clicking when sawing steering wheel back & forth @ idle. Sprayed steering joints w/PB Blaster and worked steering lock to lock & drove around nearby parking lot working steering, clicking became more pronounced. Sprayed down joints with lithium grease and worked again, clicking is reduced but still louder than before. This is definitely at least part of the problem, wear in one of these joints or some kind of looseness/slack in the steering is causing the shift at you switch lanes from left to right. I had wife rotate steering wheel side to side w/car running but can't see which u-joint is bad but clicking can clearly be heard in engine compartment as well as inside vehicle. Any suggestions on how to isolate which joint (top joint appears to be part of collapsible shaft) is bad or if it could be some sort of lash in steering box?
