heat won't turn off 1800

I have pulled the heat lever all the way forward, which shows to be the "off" position, but it still blows hot air into the car. I'm planning on doing a retro-AC installation before Summer, but is there a temporary (not damaging) way to disconnect the heat until I can get a technician to look at it? We've had a little bit of Spring weather here and this Norwegian girl can't stand the extra heat!
