R134 conversion kit questions. 200 1983

Hello,
On my 83 240 I have the R-12 a/c system.

I am probably going to install the conversion kit
to go from r-12 to r-134. I have read Dave Urban's
instructions and it seems pretty straightforward.

1) Who sells the better of the conversion kits?

2) The dryer/receiver that is in the car right now
sits next to the radiator (passenger side). Does this mean that I will
need the Supplementary Kit 2?

3) Does the conversion kit contain the orifice valve?
Any feedback on using the variable orifice valve (VOV)?
