Here is the bump stop, part number 1273849. I installed it as shown, with the top fitting loosely in the rubber spring seat. Volvo calls this rubber spring seat a spacer (part number 1329385). If I install the bump stop upside down, it fits snugly within the spacer.

As time passes, I become more and more certain that I installed the bump stop upside down. Again, opposite from that in the photo below:

The bellows fits securely over either end of the bump stop. Before I R&R the struts again, I want to be sure.
