The dreaded rear trailing arm bushing job 200 1987

So my wife said she heard a clunky noise from her rear end :-) I took a look and sure enough the rear trailing arm bushings look like the "before" in the before-and after pics. Local Volvo shop in Seattle wants over $400, so I'm thinking of tackling the dreaded TAB's myself, should be fun, Right?

After reading a ton of info here (Brickboard is the BEST) I think I understand some basic points:
- buy, build, or borrow a TAB tool
- get a quality bushing, no cheepo knock-offs for this job
- plenty of lubrication on the old bushings, new bushings, and TAB tool
(some "lube" for the mechanic is also endorsed by more than a few!)

I don't really want to buy a brand new tool for a one-time only job. I can make the one outlined in the excellent instructions I found, just thought I'd check first and see if anyone out there has one they are done with and want to sell or rent to a fellow bricker? I'm in Seattle, but my name is NOT Johnny Chan!

Probably go with OE Volvo bushings, first set lasted 210K+, although might have been bad for awhile and just never noticed. I saw one post that thought Boge were identical to OE Volvo at half price, and Scan Tech seems pretty universally despised by all true brickers everywhere. Any other input on bushing manufacturers and quality is appreciated.

I also saw a post describing a procedure that leaves the original outer casing intact, just hogging out the "guts, then replacing with poly inserts. That looked pretty good, anyone done this, how did it work and how did it last?

I've started soaking with penetrating oil, time to lube the mechanic a bit!
