mystery red wire and how to remove CPS 200

Ok I have read alot of posts on how to change the CPS so I took a good look at mine today and the wires are really bad but according to many posts access is from the top or the pass side. Ok i have a AC cylinder in the corner near the back of the fire wall and even if it wasnt there there is no way i can get my hand in there! I cant see it from the top because there harness is in the way so how in the heck do i get to it!

While I was looking for a way to get in there I ran across this red wire that is coming out of the harness to the right of the CPS connector does any one know where this is supposed to connect too (please see pictures)

I have a 91 240 wagon auto trans and the head seems like it is about a inch away from the firewall.

I had planned on changing the intake gasket and FI O rings this weekend would it be easier to get to the CPS with the manifold off???
