mystery red wire and how to remove CPS 200

The mystery wire is the Service Socket for cranking the starter motor. If you have a Bentley, it is item number 113 for '91 models, page 390-55. The service socket allows you to bypass the ignition switch for cranking the engine. I've made up a wire that plugs into this female receptacle and stretches to the battery (+) just for this purpose. I keep it in the glove compartment. It's also useful between the starter's thin wire and the battery (+). I put an alligator clip pigtail on the jumper wire for this. Credit Art B. for the idea of the jumper wire and keeping it in the glove compartment. Don't want any sons or daughters stranded on desolate Wyoming highways!

I'm holding off doing pre-emptive replacement maintenance on my CPS. So, I'll read responses to this thread.

For the fun of Volvos
Mike
