SU carb question 120-130

Stock B20B with twin SU HS6 carbs.

When the engine is hot and then left idling for a while the speed gradually drops and eventually it starts to hunt slightly, i.e. the speed drops for a second or so, comes up to normal again for a second or two, gradually drops again, etc, at a fairly regular rate. The low speed gets lower and lower until the engine eventually threatens to stall. Is this a tell-tale sign of something? Maybe false air? I had the carbs re-bushed a little while ago but I am not sure how well that was done. The manifold gasket (cheap) may also be suspect.
