Engine oil is seeping from various places. After researching this on BB, I decided to replace the oil separator box and flame trap, and clean the throttle body...all for the first time, and none of which has been done for much longer than I care to mention.
The old oil box was noticeably heavier than the new one, so I assume it had a goodly amount of gunk in it. Neither orifice was completely clogged but had a nice buildup in them.
The flame trap was also gunky but not completely blocked. I installed ipd's relocation kit which will make future cleaning much easier.
The TB was gunky but the flap seemed to move easily. I removed it and scrubbed it clean using ipd's TB cleaning kit, although I didn't find much use for the brush that was included in the kit. The intake port that the TB was mounted to also seemed dirty but I didn't clean it. Good? Bad? Indifferent?
The BB archives, FAQ, and my Bentley make this otherwise intimidating procedure ("don't mess with the oil sump hose!") much easier. The only glitch is my idle is higher than before. I'll try fiddling with the adjuster screw and hunt for broken vacuum hoses soon.
Time for another BB donation!
