m47 broken? 200 1987

I am pretty sure my transmission is toast, but I thought I check and see if I am missing something. Here is the situation. I have been meaning to replace the transmission because it whines in most gears and makes quite a bit of noise when in neutral with the clutch engaged. I assumed the input shaft bearing was dying. While driving in 5th gear about 75 or 80 mph earlier, suddenly I had no power to the wheels in what I thought was every gear. There was no noise or anything to signal the failure, it just stopped pulling as if it were in neutral, or the clutch was slipping. I stopped and adjusted the clutch cable to see if it was the clutch slipping, but it had no effect. However, I did get it to hook up in 4th gear only. The clutch engages and disengages but the only way the wheels move is in 4th gear. I somehow managed to get going in 4th gear...and made it to my destination, I drove it for over a 100 miles in 4th gear with no other issues.

My assumption is that the gearbox is trash, and I need to find a used one, but before I do, I figured I check and see if I am missing something.

Thanks for any help!
