After coming to a stop on the off-ramp from the freeway tonight,
when I tried to start out in 1st, there was no first gear. It put me
in reverse. I wiggled it out into neutral again and, being careful to
not lift on the shift knob, put it into first again, and once again,
it went into reverse. Thinking I could limp it out of the off-ramp
lane with cars backing up behind me, I tried to put it in second
and slip the clutch a little bit, but no go. No second gear at all
evidently. So I limped it along in third. I felt sick. Does anyone
have any thoughts as to if this is a clutch problem or a transmission
problem? Ugh.
