So my station wagon is having some problems. Lately, if I hit a bump too hard, or even take a turn too fast, it'll hesitate or just plain kill out.

After poking around in the engine compartment, looking for faulty connections, I discovered the crankshaft position sensor wire was extremely frayed, and if I poked it with a screwdriver, the engine would die.

So today I sourced one out and installed it in the parking lot of the parts store. The car had a rough idle, but the new sensor seemed to have smoothed it out, and the engine seems surer of itself on acceleration. But about a mile down the road, I hit a bump and BANG, hesitation. It feels like someone grabs the back bumper and jerks.

I think the new sensor may have fixed the stalling problem, as I couldn't kill it anymore, but the hesitation bothers me. I've checked the connections in the engine compartment, the infamous spot on the wiring harness beneath the alternator, battery connections, etc.

So my question is, has anyone else experienced anything similar? Anything to point me in the right direction? Or am I back to checking connections and knocking on things with the screwdriver?

My only other thoughts are something fuel-system related. Checking the pumps next.
